About Holladay Utah

Holladay is located in northern Utah, just 18 minutes southeast of Salt Lake City. The city was settled in 1847 by a group of Mormon pioneers known as the Mississippi Company within weeks of their arrival to the Salt Lake Valley and became the first town established apart from Salt Lake City. Holladay was named after John Holladay, one of the original settlers. The city is known for its beautiful streams, its heavily wooded lots, and its fine old homes.

As of the 2010 census, the population of Holladay was 26,472 with a racial make-up of 89.2% White, 4.7% Hispanic, 2.8% Asian, and 3.3 % other races. There are 5,096 households and 3,806 families residing in the city 33.9% having children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.3% are married couples living together, and 25.3% are non-families. The estimated median household income is $63,449, approximately $8,000 above the Utah average. Housing in the area has an estimated median value of $357,995 with a mean price of $423,002. Holladay is a bedroom community to Salt Lake City and many of its residents commute into the city to work. There are three elementary schools, one Junior High School, and one High School located in Holladay itself, but some students attend school in nearby Murray and Salt Lake City. There are two hospitals only a few miles away from Holladay, St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City and Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.

Residents of Holladay have the best of both worlds, living in a quiet, residential town and being only minutes away from Utah’s largest city and the great shopping, performances, and attractions that the city provides. However, residents do not have to leave their own city to eat incredible food at Lone Star Taqueria, a highly rated Mexican restaurant or at Franck’s Restaurant which is ideal for romantic dates, special occasions, or entertaining clients. After eating out, the Holladay Lions Fitness Center is a great place to work off all those yummy calories.
