There were 2,767 housing units at an average density of (0/sq mi). The racial makeup of the county was 94.95% White, 0.17% Black or African American, 1.84% Native American, 0.40% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 1.12% from other races, and 1.48% from two or more races. 2.87% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 1,576 households out of which 38.40% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.40% were married couples living together, 6.80% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.90% were non-families. 20.50% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.10% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.92 and the average family size was 3.43.
In the county, the population was spread out with 32.60% under the age of 18, 7.80% from 18 to 24, 23.10% from 25 to 44, 22.40% from 45 to 64, and 14.10% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years.
